Help

‘Thandizo’ means ‘help’ in Chichewa, the national language of Malawi. The aim of Thandizo is to help the most vulnerable people living in what is one of the poorest countries in the world but one which rarely hits the headlines. Malawi is a landlocked country in East Africa whose sole resources are agriculture and people. Transport links are so poor that exports are uncompetitive. We concentrate our efforts in the Lower Shire region which is a deprived area in the South of Malawi where life is always difficult due to topography and climate..

Thandizo works with local projecrts targeting the most vulnerable groups: orphans, the elderly and those with disability. During floods and droughts everyone becomes vulnerable so Thandizo also helps with emergency relief to keep people alive during these very difficult times.
